Recently in Recharging Qi Gong Category
There is an old Chinese saying that loosely translated means "Walk a hundred steps after each meal and live a hundred years."
It sounds a little better and has a sort of rhyme to it when said in Chinese but it's a powerful secret in any language.
Last night I was taking just this sort of walk after a fantastic home cooked meal.
The nights are starting to get cooler here in Florida and if you can get in a quick walk after a light rain there are almost no bugs.
It's beautiful.
I know most think that the best thing to do after a big meal is just sit there and hope that everything will just sort itself out but walking a little bit, not too much, is fantastic for your digestion.
If you haven't tried it I suggest you do.
It's way better than just rolling over to the couch and turning into a zombie in
front of the TV.
If you already know how 100 steps after a meal improve your digestion I suggest you make a habit out of it. You might notice that you'll start storing a little less fat in the tummy too.
This is one of the great secrets to loosing weight effortlessly with Qi Gong.
While I was walking I started to think about what else I knew about walking that is super powerful and something I could easily share in an email.
There are many many many ways to use simple walking to improve your physical condition, speed up the healing process, and build vital Qi energy.
One is getting your breathing and walking in sync.
Just watching your breathing and counting the breaths can be a powerful way to focus the mind, calm the body, relax, and release tension.
But when you combine that breathing with walking you have a very powerful Moving Meditation.
Just giving the mind and body these simple tasks to perform you may feel incredibly relaxed, refreshed, and energized.
This is what I mean when I say "Get out of the way" of the Qi Gong.
When you're no longer caught up with yourself your body and mind working together will bring about a great harmony in you.
Just like when you get a great night of deep sleep and feel powerful in the morning.
Another way of getting the most out of walking is to learn to walk backward.
This may sound silly but take my word for it, you can't beat backward training but then again you need to learn it from somebody that really knows to get any benefit from this kind of training.
The man I learned backward training from is a real pro, Matthew Furey.

1- walk 100 steps after every meal
2- walk and breath together
3- learn to walk backwards
There are many many many other ways that you can apply the principles of Qi Gong to walking but these three, alone by themselves, will produce and incredible change in you for the better.

I was visiting my nephew a couple of months back and enjoying
some tea in the living room when we heard what sounded like a
freight train coming down the track followed by a loud crash.
Since he has several small children, we jumped up from our
seats to make sure everybody was OK.
Low and behold, his seven year old daughter had decided to take
a ride in a laundry basket down the steps of their family home.
Uninjured and more embarrassed for all the attention than
anything else she darted back to her room and slammed the door.
We laughed after we realized what had happened.
She was just trying to have fun.
Isn't it amazing what small children can get away without a
scratch?
When you're a young child you think nothing of taking a ride in
a laundry basket down the steps of the house but try that at
age 30 or 40. I think not.
By the time most people reach my age their afraid to fall down
just doing moderate exercise, forget about doing anything crazy.
I get a variety of different patients with all sorts of
problems but one thing I prescribe for everyone is some form of
prescriptive exercise. Usually one of the core 36 exercises in
the Recharging Qi Gong.
Even if you need to rest your body I will give you an exercise
designed to release the tension and relax the body.
I almost always show somebody an exercise for them to do at
home before they leave my office.
I do this for two very important reasons.
One, everybody needs to take a personal interest in keeping
themselves healthy. This increases my patient recovery and
success rate way above the average because the patient is now
doing it for themselves. Just doing the exercise sends a
message to their own body that they truly want to be healthy.
The healing force has to come from within them for them to
really have any lasting benefit.
Two, the exercises I give are designed to make you younger,
stronger, and more resilient to the stress of life. These
exercises open the breathing, move the fluids of the body, and
get the Qi or vital energy flowing. This in turn heals the
internal organs and makes us more youthful.
While I'm not suggesting that anybody take a ride down the
stairs in a laundry basket, I do suggest that everybody look to
be more active than you already are regardless of your age but
it's important to build good habits.
The older you get the more important it is to engage in
exercises and activity that are gentle on the body while
promoting strength and flexibility.
Many people realize their out of shape and then, in desperation
to get back in shape, they hit it hard and end up blowing out
their back or a knee or worse yet they exhaust their internal
system and get sick.
The Recharging Qi Gong is the perfect daily routine to follow
regardless of your age because it's very gentle on the body but
at the same time you can really work it to get results fast.
When I first started teaching the Recharging Qi Gong I
introduced it as a warm-up. Later I realized that with greater
intensity or repetition of these exercises that people could
get a great workout while tuning up their energy and internal
organs at the same time.

exercises with a little variation. Spend a little more time
doing the exercise or imagine that you are moving through wet
sand when you practice. This will work the tendons and muscles
on a very deep level.

Last night I mentioned that Qi Gong on the Beach is at a new time 6:00.
That's less than an hour from now, this is just another reminder, see you there!

For the rest of you not in Miami here's some important info for your Qi Gong practice.
The fall Equinox is September 23 it's the time that we change seasons again.
The Autumnal Equinox signals the end of the summer months and the beginning of fall. It's the point where nights reach the same length as days. After this point, the Sun will shine lower and lower on the horizon until the Winter Solstice in about three months' time.
I always take the time to reset my system both internal and external at this time. The weather is cooler even in Florida, now is the time to harvest the bounty that grew during the summer so we can store up for the cold winter ahead.
It is a time to organize, work hard, and finish projects that you began in spring and summer.
In Ancient China physicians observed the natural cycles of the seasons and prescribed the best Qi Gong exercises for staying healthy and harmonizing our energy with that of our environment.
Fall is the season associated with grief and sadness. It is important to keep the mind clear and "let go" of negative emotions that impact our health more strongly during the fall.

This is the time to gather one's spirit and energy, be more focused, and keep your desires in check. This means practicing breathing exercises to enhance lung Qi. Maybe do a few extra reps of the Lung exercise from the Yin set, these are the exercises in the back of the book.
Also, one should refrain from smoking and avoid sadness and grief, the negative emotions of lung. This will prevent kidney or digestive problems in the winter.

A couple of months ago I was doing my regular morning Qi Gong
practice with a few of my students on the beach.
A group of women passed right by us and after walking maybe 10
or 20 feet away, they decided to stop and watch for a few minutes.
I said "Hello, would you like to join us."
One of the ladies did for a while and her friends watched.
After a she had gone through a couple of exercises from the
Recharging Qi Gong she rejoined the rest of her friends and
then they were off to continue their walk.
I didn't think anything of it. I usually attract people's
interest when I do the Recharging Qi Gong exercises and even
more so when there is a whole group of us laughing and having
fun.
When you stand out even just a little bit or are doing
something out of the ordinary people will be attracted to you.
But practicing the Recharging Qi Gong in public really draws
attention because people immediately recognize the power it
has even though they may not understand it.
People want to be a part of that energy in their lives but
often times they don't feel they have an opening to ask for it.
Even when you have something great and everybody wants it you
may still have to be the one who creates the opening to let
those people in.
When I was a kid, every time I went somewhere with my Dad, I
noticed he would always greet people with a "hello" or a
simple "hi" even if he didn't know them.
He said he did it just to be friendly.
Well that habit has stuck with me ever since.
As a teacher of energy work I look back and realize that what
my father was doing was creating openings. He was opening
himself to others and inviting them in fearlessly.
You can never tell what type of an impact you may make on
another's persons unless you make this type of opening.
A couple of weeks ago I was sitting at a Teahouse in Tampa and
this very same lady I had invited to join me on the beach came
over to me and asked, "Are you the teacher from Miami who
exercises on the beach?"
"Why yes I am, hello again." She was surprised that I
recognized her.
She then told me, with great gratitude, that the few exercises
she learned that morning made her knee pain go away and hasn't
returned to this day.
I told her that I was grateful that I could help her handed her
my card with the Recharging Qi Gong on it
and told her that I have a book with that exercise and many more that she could benefit from.
Later on that evening I saw that she did the smart thing and
ordered the book online.
And now she now joins me every Thursday night for the
Recharging Qi Gong class on the beach.
Open up and let people know you care are about them.

This last week I was witness to a miraculous healing of a
woman in my care. In only 3 days a woman healed herself of
Shingles with an only little coaching from me and a few
Medical Qi Gong treatments.
The key to her healing was, in my opinion, one very special
exercise that I teach, the Tension Release Exercise.
This exercise is so important, in my view, that I included
it in my free report "Using Stress as an Ally." (The free

For those of you don't know Shingles is a very painful
version of Chicken Pox that affects the elderly and people
with weakened immune systems.
This virus is with most of us all the time but is
normally suppressed by a healthy immune system.
When we become stressed out, bummed out, and burned out
our immune systems are weakened as they have to deal with
all the negative effects that stress has on the body.
That's why it's important to do something every day to
FLUSH the tension from our bodies.
Using the Meditation and Qi Gong that I prescribe you tap
into a higher source of vital energy and bring that down
into the body and WHOOSH flush the negative tensions and
stagnant energy from the body.
My patient that was able to get rid of the Shingles after
3 days learned this exercise from me, practiced it, and cut
the root of the illness by freeing up the underlying
tensions in her body that kept her immune system from doing
its job.
When my student and nephew inquired about how I had "Cured"
this patient I told him that this was a miraculous healing
and I couldn't possibly have done it on my own.
The truth is that all healing happens this way, from inside
the patient out. Healing doesn't happen from the outside in.
We can only open ourselves to that point where the energy
raises and the natural power deep inside us flows out like
a bubbling spring.
That flow is what's important to us in Qi Gong.
It's our source of power, not just in healing but in
any creative endeavor.

bed.
Do it for seven days in a row and you will notice that you
start sleeping better too.

Yesterday I was taking a familiar drive down Alligator Alley
when the force of Qi in the atmosphere was so strong I had to
pull over in one of the beautiful albeit potentially dangerous
rest areas to practice Qi Gong.
That was when I encountered the Primordial Monster.
For those of you not native to Florida, Alligator Alley is a
highway that takes you from the east cost of Florida to the
west cost of Florida. It is so named because it crosses a large
tract of everglades knows as the "River of Grass" and it
is quite common to see some of Florida's largest gators
basking on the hot asphalt.
At night I can easily dismiss any urge to stop the car anywhere
on Alligator Alley but in the light of day I feel secure enough
to stop and take in the magic of the place.
I found a lovely place to sit and tuned in to the energy
flowing through the channels of my body, out into the
atmosphere, and then back into the chakras and energy centers.
This place is alive with energy.
A hawk flies by with a small creature in its grasp.
A large egret is stalking the shallows also looking for lunch.
Everybody is trying to eat somebody else.
The birds are the easiest to see, or at least for us to see.
For whatever reason, the reptiles, even after millions of years
still have the drop on us and can hide right in front of our
human eyes.
When we relax a little more, our field of vision, just like
our energy, will open up and we begin to actually SEE our
environment instead of just our expectations.
Just like I didn't expect to see a very large gator basking
in the sun nearby but sure enough there he was.
I did not jump. I did not run. I did not turn my head.
I sat minding the flow of energy.
When you begin to develop the energetic awareness it expands from your physical body, you begin to feel tied into to the environment.
As your field of awareness opens you no longer jump at loud noises or are easily startled. Instead, your energy is held in check being stored up for a full burst of impulsive action.
When you are easily startled your energy is tight and
constricted to a mental identity.
When you are in flow the identity takes a back seat and you
move unrestricted and uninhibited.
Like a professional athlete or martial artist, this is when your movement is the best.
I felt I was in no danger. The gator was far enough away but I
could feel his awareness of me.
I began to practice the Recharging Qi Gong while keeping my
focus open to the energy and wildlife of the everglades.
This creates a dynamic balance of acting and listening.
This is one of the core principles of Qi Gong.
Qi Gong and it's balance of awareness and movement is
ancient and unchangeable just like the primordial creatures
of the wilderness.
This is why Qi Gong is way beyond exercise or even meditation

I was keenly aware of the presence of the alligator as I
performed the Yin Set's smooth and graceful motions and I
could feel the attention of the alligator on me as I moved.
Was I a threat or a meal?
Would one of us move forcefully toward the other with an
explosion of energy and movement or would we mind our own
business?
I finished the Yin set without engaging the monster and bowed
to him before moving back to the safety of my car.
I felt greatly renewed as I drove off toward Miami all my
senses tingling as I had tapped in to the Primordial Monster
inside me.

One of the highlights of the trip was going to Tiantan the
temple of heaven located in a square mile of park in Beijing
city.
Throughout the park I saw thousands of Beijing natives doing
all sorts of exercise, every thing from Tai Chi Sword to
Spinning Giant Tops to a game that looked like Hacky-Sack.
Most of all people were doing some sort of Qi Gong, I saw
people doing many of the same exercises you teach including
the Natural Move in your advanced Qi Gong.
People of all ages were just enjoying themselves and the
energy permeated the place.
Just people taking time to relax and move their body, way
different from America where when were working out it's a
serious deal or when you relax you just konk-out.
This was more like playing and more like what you teach.

My nephew has hit on something really important here.
Working out and relaxing should be virtually the same thing.
When we loose site of having fun when we work out its just
like whipping the mule to plow the field. Sure you'll get it
done but at what cost, far better to enjoy the workout itself
and let the results take care of themselves.
People who have seen my Qi Gong DVDs say that they always get
a chuckle watching me and that I'm so animated when I'm
giving instruction.
That's on purpose.

I'm truly having a wonderful time doing the Qi Gong and even

No I've made it super simple.

minutes you will have the Qi really flowing, all the joints

It was a cold day last winter when I spoke to Jose about his situation and his health condition. Both were not doing so well.
He was a friend but down and out, always complaining that he didn't have enough money to pay his bills or get what he needed for his family.
He always had to depend on others generosity to get what he needed and wanted in life.
Sometimes he even used God as an excuse for why he didn't have health, happiness or prosperity in his life.
Other times he would boast, "I could have all the money in the world, if I really wanted, simply by directing my attention to making money", yet he was always known as 'Buck Low' to his friends.
He would say. "I have turned down millions of dollars from people in the past" as if that said anything positive about his personality.
Still he lived in a semi poverty existence.
One day he said to me "your the only physician who wishes his patients not only health but also wealth. Why would you do such a thing? You're my doctor not my accountant."
"More ill health is caused by poverty and worrying about your money than anything else I can think of." I told him.
It's as much true here in the US as it is in the most impoverished nations on earth.
In fact most of my patients with back problems always have an underlying money problem as well. They feel like some one is stabbing them in the back.
Well let me tell you, when they say your health is your wealth they are not kidding.
When I was a kid my father would say "Son if you don't have your health you don't have anything."
I didn't have a clue as a kid what he was talking about. But I sure do today.
That's why I encourage all of my patients to be both healthy AND wealthy. The two are connected.
Recognizing connections is one of the underlying principles of Qi Gong and Qigong Medicine.
The same is true of the Recharging Qi Gong exercises I teach.
Can you get both healthier and wealthier while you workout on the beach?
I certainly think so.
If you don't yet understand this you need to examine a little more closely those connections between your body, mind, and success.
Sometimes it can take thirty or forty years to find all the connections, as is the case with my friend Jose, other times it just takes looking at things another way or trying something different.
I can recommend no better way to do this than to start practicing the Recharging Qi Gong every day.
When you understand this you will understand how a peaceful workout can change your own consciousness from one that repels success, money, and love to one that attracts all of these wonderful things.

I was training with one of my younger students last night and she said to me "Dr. Wu you seem to push yourself harder then most men a third your age but you seem to be the happiest person I know, how's that work."
"I don't PUSH myself, I PULL" I told her.
It might sound like I was making fun but I was truly speaking from the heart.
Once you understand how to properly PULL yourself you will have unlocked the secret of achievement, success, and eternal health.
I went on to explain student that most people believe that they have to push themselves to get any results.
They believe that they have to "get through" stuff in their life so that they can arrive on the other side of the stuff they didn't like.
This is a silly way to go through life. It's also dangerous.
I'm not suggesting that you don't strive to achieve. I believe that you're only alive when you are growing.
So how do we go about becoming more than we are?
It's more about discovering how we already do this.
We are pulled to new heights in life by our aspirations and love of what we want or who we want to become.
It's even in our language we "Pull ourselves up" we never "Push ourselves up."
When we feel we have to force ourselves to the next level we are admitting that we have lost our enthusiasm.
The key is in rediscovering that enthusiasm and that creative spark every morning.
I'll give you an example:
I manage to workout every day even when I don't want to. Do I push myself to workout?
No, I start simply with a gentle twisting motion and tapping motion I call "Tapping the Goods". (I also give this exercise in the Recharging Qi Gong that you can get at http://energymedicineflorida.com )
I do this first on those days when I don't feel like working out because so easy to do and instantly makes me feel better. Once I feel better I want to do more.
This is an example of Pulling yourself to success.
The next time you need to get moving consider what small thing you can do to get started that you will enjoy. Once you are back to enjoying yourself you will find the capacity to do more no matter what it is.
